How do I allow someone to RDP to my server?

“Hello, everyone. My friends met with the error “user account is not authorized for remote login” when he RDP to my server. I know that I should allow him to RDP to my server so that he can remote into my PC successfully. But I don’t know how to grant RDP access to a server. Any suggestions?

The windows-built-in feature RDP allows us to remotely access a server. However, if the user is not a member of the “Remote Desktop Users”, then the account won’t be permitted by the host PC. Therefore, we should give user RDP access to server so that the PC can be accessed successfully.

Method to give user RDP access to server

The part would tell you how to grant RDP access to a server. We should create the user and then add the user to the Remote Desktop. Keep reading.

Create a User

Step 1. Right-click on the Start menu and click on Computer Management.

Step 2. Under the Local Users and Groups option, click on Users. Right-click in the right pane and then select New User...

Step 3. Input the username and full name of the new user, and then enter the password. Tick in the” Password never expires” option so that you can use your password without being reminded constantly by Windows to change it.

Step 4. Click on “Create” to finish adding the new user and then exit the Computer Management. Remember the username you write here because you will need it later!

Add the user to the Remote Desktop Users

Step 1. Press “Win + R “ and then type “control panel”, hit “OK”.

Step 2. Select “System and Security ”.

Step 3. Choose “ Allow remote access” under the System tab.

Step 4. Under the Remote Desktop tab, click on “Select Users”.

Step 5. Click on Add from the System Properties box.

Step 6. Enter the object name that you set before, such as “AOMEI”, and then click on Check Names. Now the names are as follows.

Step 7. Now the new user is been successfully added and you are granted access to a server. Click on “OK”.
