Chrome Remote Desktop doesn't work 

Chrome Remote Desktop (CRD), developed by Google,allows you to connect a device from another device for remote access or remote support.  It is fairly popular due to its convenience and compatibility.  However, sometimes, some issues can happen to Google Chrome Remote Dekstop, like CRD crashing, CRD freezing, CRD stuck on loading, CRD not connecting, etc.

The reasons for Chrome Remote Desktop not working can be related to various elements, including network connection, PIN issue, Windows update, and so on.  Here list 5 effective methods to help you repair Chrome Remote Desktop in Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7.

Method 1. Check network connection 

A stable network connection should be the precondition. Thus, when Chrome Remote Desktop isn't conneting to the remote computer, it's advised to check the network connection of your current computer and the remote computer. 

Step 1.  Press Windows + R, input "ping 8.8.8.8 -t" and press Enter.

Step 2. Then, you can get the result of ping. If the difference of number after the time is small,  the network connection is well and if the number changes sharply, the network isn't OK.

Method 2: Disable PIN feature from Registry Editor or GPO

Based on many users' feedback, you can fix CRD stops working issue via disabling PIN feature. You can complete the task via Registry Editor or GPO.

Step 1. Hold Windows key and press R to open Run box, and then type “regedit” and click OK.

Step 2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Policies, and then right-click Policies>New>key, name this key as Chrome.

Step 3. Right-click Chrome New DWORD (32-bit) Value, and name it as RemoteAccessHostAllowClientPairing.

Step 4. Double-click RemoteAccessHostAllowClientPairing and change its value to 1.

Method 3. Reinstall Chrome Remote Desktop

If Chrome Remote Desktop's corrupted and it won't be working. Then, you can uninstall and reinstall Chrome Remote Desktop on your devices.

Step 1. Hold Windows key and press R to open Run box. Type ”control panel” and click OK. Many problems appear due to a glitch that occurred in Chrome Remote Desktop, so you just need to reinstall Chrome Remote Desktop to see if it works. Follow those steps to reinstall Chrome Remote Desktop.

Step 2. Click Programs and Features and double-click Chrome Remote Desktop Host in the list of the installed apps to uninstall it.

Step 3. Go to Chrome Remote Desktop official website to download and install it.

Then, you can see whether CRD works normally. 

Method 4. Disable IPv6 protocol

If your Chrome Remote Desktop can load and run normally but is unable to connect to the remote computer, try to disable IPv6 protocol. Here are the detailed steps.

Step 1. Hold Windows key and R to open Run box, and then type “control panel” and click "OK".

Step 2. Go to "Network and Internet" > "Ethernet" -> "Change adapter options".

Step 3. Right-click the adapter you want to change the setting and choose "Properties".

Step 4. Find "Internet Protocol Version 6(TCP/IPv6)" item and make sure this item is unchecked.

Method 5. Disable VPN

It may cause a connection error if you use a VPN when you want to establish a remote connection through Chrome Remote Desktop. Turn the VPN off and try to connect again to see if the problem is solved. Let's see how to do.

Step 1. Type "VPN“ in the search box and click "VPN" Settings to open it.
