What Should You Replace in Atera

Assess your current PSA/RMM needs and determine what features matter most before choosing an Atera alternative.

Your situation What it means for the comparison
You need monitoring, patching, and scripts You need endpoint management capabilities beyond screen sharing.
You bill clients from tickets and time entries Preserve the service and billing workflow, not just the device list.
You use remote sessions but little automation A focused remote access product may fit the work you perform.
Your team or device count is changing Per-technician and per-endpoint pricing respond differently to growth.
A specific task is slowing the team down A repeatable workflow test is more useful than a general performance claim.
Atera already meets your operational needs Switching introduces migration work and potential service gaps.

Six Atera Alternatives to Shortlist

These six options cover different replacement scopes. Use the shortlist to choose a category first, then review the product profile and licensing details.

Software Best Fit Replacement Scope
Syncro logoSyncro MSPs wanting RMM and service billing together RMM + PSA
AnyViewer logoAnyViewer Teams focused on remote access and assistance Remote access and support
NinjaOne logoNinjaOne Teams prioritizing managed endpoint operations RMM with remote access and available PSA
SuperOps logoSuperOps MSPs standardizing device and service workflows Unified RMM + PSA plans
Pulseway logoPulseway Technicians who need to respond while away from a desk Mobile-oriented RMM
ManageEngine Endpoint Central logoManageEngine Endpoint Central Internal IT managing endpoints and software Unified endpoint management

Start with AnyViewer when the main job is returning to an authorized computer and moving files. Shortlist Remote Utilities for a traditional administration model, TeamViewer for varied device support, Splashtop for work-PC access, Zoho Assist for a support desk, or RustDesk for self-hosting.

A Closer Look at the Six Atera Alternatives

1
Syncro logo

Syncro — Best Atera Alternative for MSPs That Need RMM and PSA Together

Syncro is a candidate when you want to keep endpoint management, ticket handling, and client billing in one platform. Its per-technician model is particularly relevant to teams comparing how costs change as they add devices or staff.

Key Advantages

  • Real-time monitoring, Windows patching, and custom scripting for endpoint maintenance.
  • Integrated ticketing, contract management, and automated client billing.
  • Unlimited managed endpoints on Core and Team plans without per-device fees.
  • Automated service desk workflows to reduce administrative overhead.

Recommended for:

Small-to-midsize MSPs that need recurring support, endpoint management, and service administration in one consolidated system.

Limitations to evaluate:

Unlimited endpoints do not make every feature identical across plans. Check the required operating systems, advanced reporting, third-party integrations, and the impact of adding additional technician seats.

Expert Review:

"Shortlist Syncro if you want a true RMM-plus-PSA model on a per-technician budget. Use your own service workflow to decide whether its integrated features fit your billing model."

2
AnyViewer logo

AnyViewer — Best Lightweight Atera Alternative for Focused Remote Access

If your day-to-day work focuses on connecting to remote computers, assisting end-users, or accessing unattended workstations, AnyViewer is a streamlined option to evaluate. It fills the remote control gap in an Atera workflow when broad endpoint management, patching, and service administration are unnecessary or handled by separate tools.

Key Advantages

  • Attended user support and authorized unattended remote access.
  • High-speed file transfer, multi-monitor switching, and in-session chat.
  • Multi-display monitoring via Screen Walls for lightweight remote management.
  • Cross-platform remote control via native iOS and Android apps.

Recommended for:

Small support teams, remote workers, and IT teams that need dedicated, high-performance remote access rather than a full management suite.

Limitations to evaluate:

AnyViewer is designed primarily for session-based remote control rather than full RMM or PSA functionality. Maintain a separate process for advanced monitoring, patch management, ticketing, and billing.

Expert Review:

"Choose AnyViewer for high-performance remote access and essential multi-screen viewing. Ensure your foundational management responsibilities are covered elsewhere before switching."

3
NinjaOne logo

NinjaOne — Best Atera Alternative for Endpoint Operations and a Broader Service Stack

NinjaOne is an enterprise-grade platform built for teams that require deep device visibility, robust patch management, and high-reliability endpoint operations. It provides a flexible foundation for IT environments requiring extensive customization and multi-OS management.

Key Advantages

  • Automated patch deployment across Windows, macOS, Linux, and 3rd-party apps.
  • Fast, native cross-platform remote control integrated into management dashboards.
  • Flexible scripting, policy management, and automated endpoint remediation.
  • Optional native modules for ticketing, asset tracking, documentation, and backup.

Recommended for:

Internal IT teams and growing MSPs whose requirements extend from rigorous endpoint maintenance to structured service delivery.

Limitations to evaluate:

Custom pricing models mean costs vary based on endpoints and selected modules. Do not assume a base quote includes every product feature—specify your remote access, PSA, and backup requirements upfront.

Expert Review:

"Evaluate both your device management workflow and your broader service stack together. NinjaOne's endpoint operations excel, but native PSA options should still be validated against your accounting processes."

4
SuperOps logo

SuperOps — Best Atera Alternative for Unified MSP Workflows

SuperOps is relevant when you want to organize endpoint work and service operations within a modern, unified environment. Compare its structured plans against your ticket lifecycle, customer contracts, and the number of devices each technician manages.

Key Advantages

  • Unified single-pane view combining RMM and PSA functionality.
  • Built-in intelligent automation for ticket routing and asset discovery.
  • Comprehensive service management covering onboarding, SLAs, and contracts.
  • Scalable plan structures tailored for startup and growing MSPs.

Recommended for:

MSPs looking for a modern platform to standardize how endpoint activities are translated into documented, billable services.

Limitations to evaluate:

Pro and Super plans use technician-based pricing with endpoint limits, while the Super Plus path uses endpoint pricing. Confirm included device quotas and additional package costs before committing.

Expert Review:

"Evaluate the end-to-end management workflow rather than just the clean interface. Plan limits and device thresholds can impact long-term costs as much as the baseline technician rate."

5
Pulseway logo

Pulseway — Best Atera Alternative for Technicians Who Need Mobile Response

Pulseway is designed for systems administrators and technicians who need full operational capabilities while away from their desks. Its mobile-first approach enables real-time troubleshooting, system commands, and monitoring directly from smartphones or tablets.

Key Advantages

  • Mobile-first management for real-time monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Automated OS and 3rd-party patch deployment with custom alerts.
  • Direct remote desktop access and command-line execution from mobile apps.
  • Auto-remediation engine to resolve routine issues without manual intervention.

Recommended for:

Field technicians, on-call IT personnel, and small MSP teams that frequently manage infrastructure outside traditional office setups.

Limitations to evaluate:

A feature-rich mobile app does not mean complex administrative tasks are as fast on a phone screen as on a desktop. Advanced ticketing and third-party integrations are often add-ons; confirm the scope of your subscription.

Expert Review:

"Choose Pulseway based on the actual mobile response tasks your team performs daily. Ensure mobile conveniences align with your broader operational requirements."

6
ManageEngine Endpoint Central logo

ManageEngine Endpoint Central — Best Atera Alternative for Internal IT Management

ManageEngine Endpoint Central is an enterprise-level endpoint management platform built for corporate IT environments. It provides deep control over software deployment, system security, compliance, and patch management across complex network topologies.

Key Advantages

  • Multi-OS automated patching for system updates and enterprise software.
  • Centralized asset management, software metering, and license tracking.
  • Built-in endpoint security including vulnerability scans and device control.
  • Flexible cloud-hosted and on-premises deployment options.

Recommended for:

Internal IT departments that prioritize centralized device security, compliance, and software lifecycle management.

Limitations to evaluate:

Endpoint Central is a dedicated management product, distinct from ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus. Client contracts, ticketing, and billing are not included natively unless bundled with separate ServiceDesk modules.

Expert Review:

"Shortlist Endpoint Central for deep endpoint and security management. If you require a complete MSP platform with contract billing, factor in the costs of integrating it with a dedicated PSA solution."

Atera Alternatives Capability Comparison

Compare the scope of each product before comparing individual features. Availability, operating-system coverage, and licensing depend on the selected plan and product combination.

Product Monitoring and Maintenance Ticketing and Service Operations Remote Access Role
Atera logoAtera RMM, patching, and automation Help desk and PSA workflows Integrated remote access options
Syncro logoSyncro RMM, patching, and scripting Integrated ticketing and billing Remote support within the management workflow
AnyViewer logoAnyViewer Visual screen monitoring (Screen Walls); non-RMM Not a PSA replacement Dedicated remote access and support
NinjaOne logoNinjaOne Endpoint monitoring, patching, automation Native PSA offering and integrations; confirm scope Remote access offering; confirm quote
SuperOps logoSuperOps RMM capabilities vary by plan PSA in unified MSP plans Remote troubleshooting workflow
Pulseway logoPulseway Monitoring, patching, and automation Business operations add-ons; confirm scope Remote control within RMM
ManageEngine Endpoint Central logoEndpoint Central Endpoint management and deployment Separate help-desk integration where needed Remote troubleshooting for managed devices

Insight:

If the current Atera workflow produces alerts, applies patches, creates service records, and supports billing, confirm every one of those steps. A remote connection alone covers only part of the job.

Compare Atera Alternative Pricing on the Same Basis

Evaluate pricing models and licensing terms to determine your real costs. Rates scale by technicians, total endpoints, or active remote sessions.

Product Pricing Model Published Entry Rate Core Fit Key Cost Considerations
Atera logoAtera MSP Per Technician (Unlimited Endpoints) $129 / tech / mo (Billed annually) Full All-in-One RMM + PSA
  • AI Copilot and Network Discovery require extra add-on fees.
  • IT Department plans differ from MSP plans.
Syncro logoSyncro MSP Per Technician (Unlimited Endpoints) $129 / tech / mo (Billed annually) Direct Atera Alternative (RMM + PSA)
  • True flat-rate with unlimited agents.
  • Team tier required for advanced automation/SLA tools.
AnyViewer logoAnyViewer Per User / Device (Session-Based) Free Tier Available (Paid from ~$3.99/mo) Remote Control & Screen Management
  • Best value if RMM/PSA features are unnecessary.
  • Scaled by users, assigned devices, and session concurrency.
NinjaOne logoNinjaOne Per Endpoint (Custom Quote) Quote-Based (Volume discounts) Scalable Multi-OS Management
  • Pay-per-device; cost increases directly as device count grows.
  • Quotes depend heavily on chosen modules (RMM, PSA, Backup).
SuperOps logoSuperOps MSP Hybrid (Per Tech + Endpoint Allowance) $99 - $129 / tech / mo (Includes 150 endpoints) Modern Unified MSP Workflow
  • Tech plans include 150 endpoints; additional devices require add-on packs.
  • Super Plus path uses pure per-endpoint pricing.
Pulseway logoPulseway Per Endpoint (Custom Quote) Quote-Based (Min. commitment) Mobile-First On-Call Support
  • Pay-per-device and module.
  • Minimum endpoint commitments and onboarding setup fees may apply.
ManageEngine Endpoint Central logoEndpoint Central Per Endpoint (Cloud / On-Prem) Free Tier (Up to 25 endpoints); Paid quote-based Enterprise Endpoint Security
  • Scaled by total device count and edition.
  • PSA (ServiceDesk Plus) must be licensed as a separate product.

Insight:

For high endpoint-to-technician ratios, Syncro mirrors Atera's flat-rate predictability. If you only need fast remote support and basic visual monitoring, AnyViewer provides the lowest entry cost without unnecessary RMM/PSA overhead.

Security Architecture & Access Control Comparison

Evaluate security standards, session protection, and administrative controls across each platform.

Product Architecture & Hosting Authentication & Access Controls Remote Session Security Data Protection & Auditability
Atera logoAtera MSP Cloud-native (Azure SaaS) 2FA, SAML/SSO integration, strict role-based access (RBAC) Encrypted remote access sessions (via integrations like AnyDesk/Splashtop) Comprehensive audit logging, SOC 2 Type II compliant
Syncro logoSyncro MSP Cloud-native SaaS 2FA/MFA, granular RBAC, IP address whitelisting Session authorization and encrypted connections Centralized activity logging and event auditing
AnyViewer logoAnyViewer Cloud & Hybrid architecture 2FA, security codes, black/white listing, mandatory access passwords End-to-end ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) 256-bit encryption Connection history logging, device privacy mode (screen blacking)
NinjaOne logoNinjaOne Cloud-native SaaS Mandatory MFA, SSO/SAML integration, fine-grained RBAC Fully encrypted native remote sessions with strict permission prompts Granular activity audit logs, SOC 2 Type II certified
SuperOps logoSuperOps MSP Cloud-native SaaS MFA, SSO options, role-based access permissions Encrypted remote troubleshooting sessions Detailed audit trails and compliance-aligned data handling
Pulseway logoPulseway Cloud & On-Premises 2FA/MFA, biometric app locking, IP restriction policies Encrypted session channels with user permission prompts System audit logs and real-time security alerts
ManageEngine Endpoint Central logoEndpoint Central Cloud & On-Premises enterprise deployment MFA, SAML/SSO, fine-grained privilege management (PAM) Encrypted remote desktop sessions with mandatory user acceptance Enterprise audit trails, ISO/SOC certifications, zero-trust architecture support

Insight:

RMM suites focus security on system-level patching and agent governance, while AnyViewer concentrates protection on session encryption (256-bit ECC), strict access controls, and session privacy.

First off: stellar value for money, especially if you´re in a small team, or solo. I like the patch management, automatic schedules and script deployment quite alot. Copilot is pretty sweet for ad hoc scripting, although I was mildly dissapointed when they made it an add-on. Asset management, Health Monitoring and ticketing are ok, work as advertised. Software deployment can be a bit hit-and-miss, although it´s tough to say whether that´s on Atera, or WinGet/Chocolatey.

Pretty comprehensive remote management tool. Very competitive tool set. There are couple problems though. Most notable, there is no reversal for an alert, you need to log in to find out whether the issue cleared. Another one, the URL for over the Internet agent installation was changed with no communication from the vendor which killed our well tested and working cloning script.

Atera allows us to do some much right and automate at will what one can figure out how to.There is room for improvement on the cell app; some more features would be very helpful, and scheduled reports would be soo much more useful if it actually gives the report in the scheduled email.Definitely worth a test drive!

I have been running the platform for two years. The core of the solution works good. Patching works well, Splashtop integration is great.I have had issues with it installing simple apps like Office 365 and Google Chrome. I had to write custom installs for these as the baked in ones do not work consistently. The major problem is, and why I an not renewing is there is no point of contact for issues when they arise. I am in the middle of trying to renew my subscription and they keep sending the wrong invoice. The only way to contact them is through generic email support addresses.

Steady Innovation and Ideal Pricing Make Syncro Shine

4
Very positive. Support is helpful and responsive. Product is solid and predictable. I use Syncro for endpoint monitoring and management, allowing us to manage large numbers of endpoints in a central, automated way. It's a solid RMM, priced per technician rather than per endpoint, making it ideal for operations like ours. Syncro is also in steady development, with new features coming out regularly. Additionally, I use Syncro to deploy tools through scripting.

I like that I can have a free account with my own devices and still support someone remotely that isn't part of my account.
The app is really easy to learn and setup, there aren't any annoying adds or forced license fees.
It really is "free" to use with added functions on purchased feature upgrades.
What is a bit annoying is that my application doesn't keep remembering my login details and i have to log in again after a while.

I've had a great experience with AnyViewer. It's incredibly easy to use, yet still powerful enough to handle everything I need for remote support.
Setup was simple, performance has been reliable, and it makes helping clients fast and stress-free. What really stands out is their support team — even though everything is handled via email, they've been responsive, helpful, and genuinely supportive whenever I've needed assistance.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a practical, dependable remote access solution.

AnyViewer works perfectly. The UI is clean and transparent. The functions are all there. The pricing of the full version is fair, and there are some special prices coming and going every now and then. The demo version, which I used for a long time, is far more usable than that of the TeamViewer and many others, which I appreciate a lot. I do not see anything better thus far on the market, free or otherwise. Keep up the good work!

Ninja has been the answer to all our problems as an MSP. Originally we went with Atera for our primary RMM software, however we found some certain core fundamental features to be extremely painful (Script running, Remote Access, Patching, reliability etc.) hence the decision to move. In comes Ninja. Ninja nails all the fundamentals perfectly, and then you get onto the more advanced features which are all thoughtful changes with MSP's pains are the forefront of their decisions. Every member of the team I've worked with have been golden too (Special shoutout to Izgi for managing our account!).If I'm to recommend any product of our stack, Ninja's always the forefront runner.Great job Ninja Team!

What made our experience great was the right tool for the right job - even when I didn't yet know I needed the tool. With covid and a change from mostly VDI to a mix of VDI and laptops - remote users I was at a loss how to reliably support the new endpoints. As a small IT department I quickly learned that NinjaOne would fill the support gap for us remarkably well. I use patching, automation and soon ticketing. I'm not sure why it has such a low rating here but the only thing I can fault is perhaps a tiny bit of learning curve. But then I had never used an RMM tool before (of any kind).

I'm really unhappy with my experience with NinjaOne, a short one that may be. After trying six times, I am unable to get through on their phone lines due to no one picking up. I am also unable to proceed with a trial due to not providing details, which I had previously provided. Then to be told I’ve not provided the details required. Very poor management, looking at the other reviews here too, it seems the product and service isn’t worthy anyway. We will take our business elsewhere on this occasion.

FAQs About Atera Alternatives

What is the best Atera alternative?

The best fit depends on the workflow. Compare Syncro and SuperOps for unified MSP operations, NinjaOne for endpoint management with available PSA, Pulseway for mobile-oriented response, and Endpoint Central for internal IT endpoint administration. AnyViewer fits remote-access-focused needs.

Is AnyViewer a complete replacement for Atera?

No. AnyViewer can serve remote access and support needs on supported devices. It does not replace the full monitoring, patch automation, ticketing, and billing scope of an RMM and PSA platform. Keep those functions covered if your business needs them.

Is there a free Atera alternative?

Free options cover different scopes. AnyViewer has a free remote access plan, while Endpoint Central offers a free edition for limited environments. Neither should be assumed to reproduce every Atera workflow. Check current limits and usage terms.

Which Atera alternative is cheaper?

There is no universal answer. Compare the required number of technicians, endpoints, simultaneous sessions, modules, and the billing term. Add migration and any tools you must retain. A remote access plan and a full RMM-plus-PSA subscription are different purchases.

Which alternatives offer RMM and PSA?

Syncro and SuperOps offer unified RMM and PSA paths. NinjaOne also publishes a native PSA offering alongside its RMM platform. Confirm the exact plan or product combination and test your ticket-to-billing workflow before switching.

Which alternatives charge per technician?

Syncro publishes per-technician pricing, as does Atera. SuperOps offers technician-based MSP plans with endpoint allowances as well as an endpoint-based path. Confirm the selected plan rather than assuming every product has unlimited devices.

Which option should an on-call technician evaluate?

Pulseway is a useful candidate for mobile-oriented management. Test receiving an alert, inspecting the endpoint, and completing an approved action from your phone. For simple computer access from mobile, AnyViewer is another option, with a different management scope.

Is Endpoint Central a service desk?

Endpoint Central focuses on endpoint management. ServiceDesk Plus is a separate ManageEngine service-desk product that can integrate with it. Include the required products and licenses when comparing a complete support workflow.

What should I migrate before canceling Atera?

Identify device records, open tickets, contracts, scripts, policies, reports, and any historical information you must retain. Validate export and import options, pilot the replacement, and keep a recovery path. Do not assume every record transfers automatically.

When should I keep Atera?

Keeping Atera may be reasonable when its management, service workflows, and per-technician economics already fit your environment. Change tools when the expected improvement outweighs migration work and any functions you would need to rebuild.

Choose the Atera Alternative That Covers Your Work

Start with the capabilities you need to keep. Compare a full management and service platform if your team depends on monitoring, patching, tickets, and billing. If the task is simply accessing a computer and helping someone remotely, a dedicated access tool like AnyViewer may be the right starting point.
